I wrote a song about robots and taught two people how to sing it today. Now that was ridiculous. When you write a song, no matter how dumb and piddly, you are the authority on how that song should be sung. I actually spent more time describing how the robot song should be performed than I actually did writing it.
This was all part of the trip to MJR SounDesign in Portland, Oregon. I brought in a 42-page script for Machine Horror House, and about four hours later we had a first-rate recording of the script. Marc Rose worked the recording controls and directed his two actors, Niene Pugliano and Jeff Pollard. Niene was making everybody laugh by saying “Fuck ’em” in an impish voice. Jeff was going off-script and trying to seduce us into perverted robot sex in the recording booth. It was wacky.
I had a good time, and walked out content that this part of the project had gone extremely well. Now Marc is sitting down to his favorite work–the editing and processing. Possibly, later in the week I will have some clips to share.
